Environmental Impact Management

Environment issues such as climate change, air and water pollutants, waste, and chemicals have become key factors that greatly affect the production and competitiveness of all companies. TaeguTec empathize with the new ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) rules and participate in corporate environmental responsibility.
In accordance with our “Environmental Management Priority Strategy,“ which was revised in August 2021, TaeguTec is fulfilling its social responsibility by establishing a management system that can automatically respond to environmental issues in order to keep pace with these chronological changes.

Air

In order to preserve the integrity of the quality of the air, TaeguTec applies an optimal treatment method that filters air pollutants generated in the production process.

TaeguTec intends to continuously reduce air pollutants through investments in eco-friendly facilities and technological improvements as well as process procedures. At the same time, in order to go beyond responding to legal requirements, TaeguTec works to minimize potential impacts by improving the operational efficiency of prevention facilities.

Water

Water pollution and water shortages are becoming a serious challenge worldwide due to human activities and climate change. Water is one of the most important resources in the ecosystem.

TaeguTec rebuilt a new wastewater treatment and recycling facility in 2017. Most water used in the manufacturing process is treated at TaeguTec’s wastewater treatment facility in order to be recycled and reused.

Waste

TaeguTec employs a waste treatment process for the sustainable use of resources. Particularly, we are managing waste recycling rates as our core environmental management goal by continuously seeking new uses and developing recycling technologies for waste in order to replace incinerating or disposing of waste in landfills.

TaeguTec will continue to maximize recycling rates by analyzing the types and amounts of waste properties.

 

 

Efforts to Respond to Climate

Improve Industry Efficiency

To efficiently manage energy, TaeguTec has developed at its headquarters the Factory Energy Management System (FEMS), an ingenious real-time monitoring system that quickly measures and analyzes the energy consumption of each product manufactured on the entire production line. FEMS connects with our internal email system in order to conveniently provide the useful energy data needed to improve the overall performance of a company’s manufacturing operations to all relevant departments. By linking the data acquired from FEMS with performance indicators such as Balanced Score Card (BSC) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI), employees can actively respond to the results about the production’s energy losses; a process that leads to achieving positive energy savings.

By analyzing energy consumption patterns, it is helping to make decisions about replacing equipment simulating results, and changing operating conditions. TaeguTec is investing more to utilize big data analysis algorithms, which is currently in the process of linking with Decision Support System (DSS), this process contributes to finding the entire company’s optimal energy scheme.

 

Exemplary Case from EU-Korea ETS Project

The European Union and the Republic of Korea have been working together on various projects for the soft landing of Korea’s emission trading system.
In 2019, TaeguTec’s results of developing an independent accounting system as well as the creation and implementation of the FEMS system, which are linked together, was selected as an exemplary case from the EU-Korea ETS project.

ESS (Energy Storage System)

TaeguTec has been operating energy storage systems (ESS) since May 2018. The flexibility of ESS assists the company’s power system operations. It reduces the usage load during peak daytime working hours by storing electricity in a large capacity battery at night when the demand for power is low in order to use the stored electricity during the company’s peak daytime operating hours. This energy optimized storage system makes it possible to efficiently supply power, improve energy and facility utilization, and stabilize the quality of the power.

 

Optimizing Energy Efficiency

TaeguTec connects LED lighting and HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) management system to the SCADA (Supervisory control and Data Acquisition) system to resourcefully manage temperature, humidity and power consumption.
In addition, all of the company’s computers automatically enter standby mode when not in use. This system reduces wasted power from computer operations.
